La parola “curatela” deriva dal verbo latino curare (letteralmente ‘prendersi cura di’) e viene riferita in ambito artistico al lavoro svolto dal curatore, ovvero da colui che, da un lato, seleziona e organizza l’opera d’arte collocandola all’interno di un determinato contesto storico-estetico e, dall’altro, crea gli ambienti fisici e psicologici attraverso i quali il pubblico fruirà l’opera stessa.

 

Prima in Europa e solo recentemente in Italia, anche il mondo della danza e delle arti performative ha introdotto questa espressione nel proprio vocabolario per indicare una serie di attività trasversali che comprendono l’accompagnamento degli artisti nelle diverse fasi del processo di creazione e comunicazione del progetto, la costruzione delle modalità attraverso cui coinvolgere e attivare il pubblico favorendo il dialogo con gli artisti e i luoghi, la creazione di un interesse e di un dibattito critico attorno alle produzioni artistiche attraverso una costante attività di divulgazione.

 

In questa nuova edizione di DANCE MEETINGS andremo a toccare alcuni importanti temi legati alla curatela nel mondo della danza e ai suoi protagonisti attraverso le testimonianze di esperti del settore, chiamati a condividere strategie, pratiche, problemi e possibilità di un campo in espansione e in continua definizione e ridefinizione.

 

Gli incontri, teorici e pratici, sono pensati sia per giovani operatori che desiderano approfondire conoscenze e competenze del campo sia per giovani artisti, danzatori e coreografi, che all’inizio della loro carriera vogliano conoscere gli strumenti e le opportunità a loro disposizione e supporto.

The world “curatorship” comes from the Latin verb “curare” (literary taking care of). In the artistic setting it is referred to the work carried out by the curator, that is he who, on one hand, select and organize the piece of art placing it within a certain historic-aesthetic context while on the other hand creates the physical and psychological atmosphere by which the public will enjoy the work itself.

Before in Europe and lately in Italy, even the dance and performance art’s world has introduced this expression in his own vocabulary in order to indicate a series of cross activities. This includes supporting the artists in the different phases of the creative process, promoting the procedures that have the purpose of involving the spectators in dialoguing with the artists, encouraging a critic debate about the artistic works through a continuous divulgation.

In this new edition of DANCE MEETINGS we will deal with some important themes connected with the curatorship in the world of dance  and with his protagonists by experts’ testimonies, called to share strategies, practices, problems and occasion of a growing and ever-changing field that keeps.

The meetings, theoretical and applied, are thought both for young operators who wish to delve into knowledge and competence  of the field and young artists, dancers and choreographers that at the beginning of their careers want to know the tools and the opportunities available.
