This creation of the choreographer Susanna Beltrami is a total theatre operation, in which great themes of one of the most important works of the ‘900 are collected: “The waste Land” by Thomas Sterne Eliot. The artistic and spiritual journey, the pain and the lack of meaning, the search for truth and the goal of inner peace are all the images evoked in a huge open space, that of the scene and that of the text, in which the contrast between two fundamental colors, such as White and Black, symbolizes that between Memory and Obli- vion. Since the very beginning, a song of cicadas, bursting on the scene, takes the viewer into a dimension without coordinates, a powerful place where dreams, memories and desi- res mix with each other, and time loses its connotations becoming eternity in perpetual movement. An existential journey begins, where white is the absence of memory and the color of non-memory and an intimate light makes the view sharp and penetrating. On stage, the bodies of the dancers, at first, symbols of a lost humanity that broke the bond of love with the world, are transformed, along the narration, taking on a different appearances.

The soul is now forced to stay in the heart of things, in the center, curled up, as in a shell, as in the birthday place, a “material paradise”, one of the most powerful places where the integration between projections, memories and man’s dreams can be realized.
